Despite their eagerness for a trip to the legendary Augusta National Golf Club for the Drive, Chip and Putt National Finals in April, 95 competitors at Aronimink Golf Club in Newton, Pennsylvania did not forget the most important parts of the game: camaraderie, companionship and competition. And by day’s end, a total of 8 junior golfers left the regional qualifier with exactly what they wanted. Atop the list was our very own First Tee participant Mason Palmer who swept the Boys 14-15 age division by 3 points. He has now earned himself a trip to Augusta for the finals the week before the Masters. “I feel great. I always wanted to do this,” Mason said. He has been working extra hard on his game recently. The golf bug bit him at age 5 while learning here at the First Tee – Roanoke Valley. “Golf is a good way to get outside [and] spend time with friends and family. I got a lot better these past few years, and I’m just happy to be able to have this opportunity.” We are cheering you on, Mason!
