First Tee – Roanoke Valley Parent Child Tournament

We are once again asking for your help in producing another exciting event.  All proceeds from The Parent-Child go to support programming at First Tee – Roanoke Valley, our nationally recognized chapter of First Tee here in the Roanoke region.  We hope that we can count on you to contribute and be recognized as a sponsor at the event.  Please send your 2019 tax deductible contribution before September 1st so we can include your name in the tournament program and other signage. The seventh annual Parent-Child Tournament will be played at Roanoke Country Club on September 21st-22nd.  The event will be comprised of two person Parent-Child teams; we welcome teams of ALL ages and ALL abilities to play.  Adults may choose to be paired with a First Tee participant who may not have an adult to play with in the tournament. The goal of First Tee is to impact the lives of young people by providing educational programs that build character, instill life-enhancing values, and promote healthy choices through the game of golf.  We strongly believe that family plays a large role in a child’s love of the game, and this tournament will give them the opportunity to cultivate that love for golf and strengthen a family/mentor bond. Sponsors play a large role in making our tournament a fantastic event for First Tee – Roanoke Valley.  It will be a great marketing opportunity for your company, as we expect to reach nearly 200 golfers and volunteers over the two-day event.  Depending on the level of donation, your company’s name/logo will be featured on our website, player information, scoreboard, hole sponsorship signs, or banners at the course.

May we count on you?

It’s always exciting at First Tee – Roanoke Valley! Coach Bill, along with his talented staff and dedicated volunteers, has the pleasure of witnessing excitement every day at First Tee – Roanoke Valley.  A high five from a child who has been selected for a once –in-a-lifetime trip to Pebble Beach; the pride of an 8th grader for making the high school golf team; the joyful leap of a child after sinking a putt for the very first time.  This excitement comes from the reward of perseverance, a feeling of accomplishment, a sense of discovery.  These are the daily lessons – and rewards for participants at First Tee – Roanoke Valley. Since opening in 2005, First Tee – Roanoke Valley has touched many young lives each year.  To date in 2017, we have served over 7500 participants through programs conducted at our facility, through partnerships with Boys and Girls Club, The YMCA Magic Place, the W.E. Skelton 4H Camp, and in area public school PE classes.  Participants from our chapter are selected annually for multiple national opportunities, including The Pure Insurance Championship at Pebble Beach, a PGA Champions Tour event; First Tee Scholars Program; and for camps, tournaments, leadership training and various other opportunities around the United States. First Tee – Roanoke Valley continues to make a huge impact on the children we serve – and we couldn’t do it without you.  May we count on your support?  Gifts of appreciated stock are also accepted. Your gift to The Junior Golf Foundation of Virginia will support First Tee – Roanoke Valley as well as The Scott Robertson Memorial Junior Golf Tournament.  Our organization relies on financial contributions to cover 75% of our costs, which includes providing scholarships for children who benefit from (but cannot afford) our classes as well as salaries for the outstanding programming professionals who teach all of these children each year.  Your support will help ensure that the programs we provide to the children of our community can grow and expand.  Programs that focus on teaching life skills as well as golf; reward participants, as well as the coaches; and brings excitement to the lives of those involved. Thank you! for your consideration, Tom Robertson, Board Chair The Junior Golf Foundation of Virginia and First Tee – Roanoke Valley are projects of The Scott Robertson Memorial Junior Golf Academy, a 501©3 not-for-profit organization.
